IPL 2020 - Whole new ball game!

Dream11 IPL 2020 is all set to kick-off on the 19th of September and there has been a lot of talk as to how different is this tournament going to be considering all the new restrictions in place and the change in venues.

1. Venue

The year 2020 has been a tough one for all. Owing to the risk and taking into account the safety considerations, the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League has been shifted to UAE. Three venues - Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will host all the matches this year. The change in playing conditions is a factor that will force the teams to adapt to different strategies. Removing the "Home Advantage" for the teams and leveling each team might be a blessing in disguise for some franchises.

2. Teams

The preparation for the IPL started well before the Pandemic with the Player auction. Some of the teams looking different this year are -

a. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Of course like every other year RCB squad is looking fantastic this year. However, the presence of a well-defined think tank - Mike Hesson (Director of Cricket Operations) and Simon Katich (Head Coach) will give the players the clarity in their roles. Some of the new ambitious purchases - Finch who will assist Virat for his Captaincy and Isuru Udana might come in handy especially at the slow tracks in UAE at the death.

b. Delhi Capitals

Although DC over the years has not powered through the playoffs, this year the squad looks deadly along with Ricky Ponting who'll be working out all the weaknesses. With the inclusion of Rahane in the middle order, DC has one of the best batting lineups in the tournament with Shikhar, Shaw, Iyer, Rahane, and Pant along with the power of overseas finishers. Ashwin will add a lot of confidence to the bowling lineup as well. Don't be surprised if they outplay some of the top teams in the tournament.

c. Chennai Super Kings

CSK has established superiority each and every time they walked onto the field. However, this year is going to be totally different. Dhoni who announced his international retirement earlier will be under the spotlight and CSK's most beloved player Suresh Raina will not be taking part which will have a huge impact on the side. The medium pace variation bowler Deepak Chahar is also very unlikely to be a part of the squad too. The Lions seem weak and distorted. For a change, we might have new finalists in IPL 2020.

3. Bio-Bubble

It is important amongst all the distractions, we do not forget what times we are in right now. Respecting and abiding by the rules laid down by the ICC as well as BCCI takes priority over everything else for all the franchises. Bio-Bubble is a group of tested individuals who are free from the virus. So if the Bio-Bubble is secure and each player maintains that, the tournament will smoothly take place and we the fans can rejoice a bit in possibly the worst year of our lives. Hoping the tournament sees new champions this year.
