An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practising the arts, or demonstrating an art. The common usage in both everyday speech and academic discourse is a practitioner in the visual arts only. Today we are going to share an interesting conversation with an artist. She is highly skilled and has just started off with bigger projects with her talent. Let's have a good read while knowing about this fascinating person.
Tell me about yourself.
I am Kavya Periyannan. I was born in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu and brought up in Bangalore, Karnataka. I am working as a Human Resource Analyst and an Artist.
Tell us about your schooling and education.
I completed my schooling in Bangalore International Public School.
I did my PU in RNS PU College and continued my Bachelors in Information Science at RNS Institute of Technology.
What is integral to the work of an artist?
I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is an integral part of an artist. Imagination encircles the world.
How has your practice changed over time?
I started off from small doodles and pencil art, over the course of time I started Mandala art and now I work on portraits and wall art too. I get inspired by new forms of artwork and end up learning it.
What art do you most enjoy doing?
Wall art and my journal. I love to put my imagination into a sketch which actually tells what my soul seeks. I enjoy doing wall art and murals since those colour detailing expresses more of my talent.
What theme do you pursue?
In art, the theme is all about one's creativity and perspective. I don't hold onto any specific theme.
Art gives me freedom. It is a free expression of the human mind where I can put my thoughts and imaginations. Sometimes art speaks more than the words. Art is not what you see, it is what you make others see. The highest form of art is to inspire.
Is your art funded?
No, my artworks are not funded.
Professionally what is your goal?
Inspiring people by my work. What else can you do? What else can you do for anyone but to inspire them? This would be my goal professionally, to reach out to a large audience by my artwork.
What would be your dream project?
My art studio, that is my dream project.
Which project was your favourite till now?
Wall arts and portraits are my favourites.
How has social media helped you in your recognition?
People spread the love by sharing my works online and that is how I grew audiences on Instagram and Facebook, and I also get orders through them.
What would you suggest to a budding artist right now?
Paint out your imagination and be authentic. Practice a lot and compete with yourself. That is how you push yourself to your best.
What is next for you?
I have no prefixed plan as of now.
So this was a chit-chat with our friend. She was very co-operative and responsive throughout this process. We thank her for this good conversation. You can reach her out through her Instagram account - https://www.instagram.com/artbykaviee/
